I’m a second generation Salvadoran American and first-generations college graduate from Boston, MA. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs & Spanish with minors in Latin American studies, Women’s studies, and Business. I went on to pursue my Master of Arts in Latin American studies with a concentration in International Migration. My project, “A Bidirectional Ethnographic Project of Reclaimed Childhoods at Casa Asilio” locates unaccompanied minors in transit who joined the 2018/19 Central American caravan movement, outside the problem-oriented paradigm. As age-fluid agents, the adolescents in this study cultivate a sense of belonging amid a larger socio-political framework. Outside of academia my interests include social justice, hatha yoga, mindful meditation, make-up, fashion, and all things kawaii.
